Learning Communitiesis a project based on a set of successful educational initiatives aimed at social and educational transformation. This educational model is consistent with international scientific theories that highlight two key factors for learning in today’s society: community interactions and participation.

Learning Communities involve everyone who directly or indirectly influences students’ learning and development, including teachers, family members, friends, neighbors, members of neighborhood and local associations and organizations, volunteers, and others.

Learning Communities implement successful educational practices that the international scientific community has shown contribute to improving student learning and fostering a positive school environment. These practices include:

  1. Interactive Groups
  2. Conversational gatherings
  3. Training for family members
  4. Community involvement in education
  5. A Dialogic Model for Conflict Prevention and Resolution
  6. Dialogic Teacher Training

SLEEP STAGE

The planning phaseis one of the first steps in transforming a school intoa Learning Community.

This is the moment whenthe entire educational community collectively envisions the ideal school they wish to build, without any initial limits or constraints.

The model was developed by the CREA group at the University of Barcelona as part of the Learning Communities project.

🌟 What is the sleep phase?

During this phase:

Students, teachers, families, non-teaching staff, and volunteers are participating.

Each group answers questions such as:

It is a time ofexcitement, participation, and collective effort.

🎯 What is it for?

📌 After the dream…

This phase is followed by other stages, such as:

  1. Prioritizing dreams(selecting the most relevant and feasible ones).
  2. Planning.
  3. Implementation of successful educational approaches(such as discussion groups or interactive groups).

In short, the dream phase is the emotional and democratic starting point for the center’s transformation: first we dream together, then we build together.

Below, we present the final two phases of our Center’s vision.

Here’s a look at how one of our dreams is coming to life: “having a colorful school.”
