Last Friday, our school, El Chaparral, was decked out in purple to celebrate International Women’s Day. It wasn’t just any March 8; it was a day to look back, reflect on the present, and, above all, stride confidently toward the future.

The entrance to the center was transformed into a magical setting. Under a canopy of balloons bearing the faces of the most important women in our students’ lives, we inaugurated our very own “Paseo de la Femme.”

The floor was covered with stars bearing quotes from women who changed the course of history in science, politics, and culture.

The balloons weren't just decorated with photos, but also with those sayings that our grandmothers, mothers, and aunts tell us every day—sayings that are part of who we are.

The most moving moment of the day was the reading of the manifesto and the cutting of the purple ribbon. With this symbolic gesture, we made it clear that our school’s doors will always be open, so that talent and dreams know no gender.

“We want every girl to know that she can be a scientist, a soccer player, or whatever she dreams of; and we want every boy to understand that his greatest strength lies in empathy and respect.”

As the manifesto read during the event rightly stated, this promenade is not just for show. It is a daily reminder that equality is built step by step, by all of us together.

We want to thank the families for their participation and the students for the love they poured into every star and every message. Here’s to the women who changed the world and to those who change our world every day!

We invite you to watch these videos, where music serves as a vehicle for expressing our commitment to equality. Don't miss them!
